This 44 Mag round is capped with Hornady’s own 200 grain MonoFlex. It is a monolithic bullet – solid copper, making it at once clean shooting, compliant with certain jurisdictions’ bans on lead bullets, and extremely resilient. That last feature is especially beneficial, as the MonoFlex retains no less than 95 percent of its weight while it pierces thick hide and sinuous muscle tissue. That translates to a deep wound channel, even when you’re dealing with a tough hog!
The MonoFlex is a hollow point bullet, with notches surrounding its nose cavity to control even, uniform terminal expansion. The cavity is also filled with elastomer. The supple, plastic-like material gets forced down into the MonoFlex’s hollow point during penetration to spread the bullet outward with greater reliability.
