Underwood loaded this round with a 245 grain full metal jacket flat nose projectile. It’s more economical than most other bullets folks would consider suitable for defense against dangerous game. Despite that, it’s still plenty effective: hard and tough, with a non-expanding flat nose profile that manages to inflict quite an injurious wound column all on its own. The FMJ FN also excels at keeping its nose pointed forward, which helps it get deep enough to do serious damage.
This ammo’s nickel-plated brass cases are nice. Reloadable like regular brass, but also blessed with a surface that reduces friction and resists tarnishing. As always, Underwood’s low-flash propellant is standing by to assist shooters at night. It can save your vision from going dark after squeezing off your first shot!
PLEASE HEED THE MANUFACTURER'S WARNING ON THIS AMMO:
"The 44 Mag is unique with how we produce within SAAMI specifications in the sense that it has an exceptional amount of recoil. For those brave enough to fire them in a titanium or scandium or aluminum alloy receiver, we recommend only putting one or two in the cylinder at a time. We prefer to see all of our 44 Mag loads fired from STEEL revolvers. The excessive recoil impulse in these smaller firearms can loosen even the strongest of crimps in cartridges waiting their turn in the cylinder, potentially causing the projectile to 'creep' out of the case. Yes you may shoot these in a snub nose 44 Mag, but if you're loading a cylinder full you might find yourself fighting physics."
