Federal's "Train + Protect" brand is new for 2017 and designed to keep shooters from making complicated choices over extensive research. This ammunition is intended to fill roles for both training and personal defense and accomplishes the feat using components that are up to either task. Federal Premium products are manufactured in Minnesota and supported by veteran lineups like Hi-Shok and HST. Their experience dates back to the 1922 and allows them to tailor products for Olympic gold medalists, unconventional hunters, and demanding law enforcement professionals.

These .40 S&W rounds utilize 180-grain VHP projectiles which match a wide range of practice and duty loads. The VHP (versatile hollow point) hosts a wide-mouth cavity and covered base that produces expansion on impact but is inexpensive enough for general range work. Copper jacketing at the rear of the bullet reduces fouling while the elongated format of a hollow point enhances accuracy by way of increased rifling contact. Each bullet is crimped into a reloadable brass casing that is equipped with clean-igniting Boxer primer from Federal's own factory. During entry into a target, the bullet's expansion will help create a larger wound cavity while passing kinetic energy into vital zones in order to end a threat more quickly.
