This round owes its massive punch to its 165 grain jacketed hollow point bullet. With its gilding metal jacket and sleek nose profile it feeds reliably before establishing an accurate trajectory toward its target. Once it finds itself within soft tissue, this bullet’s cup-shaped nose cavity causes it to rapidly expand, digging a wide tunnel as the result. The bullet disperses most if not all of its energy inside of its target in the process, making a punch a rather insufficient analogy for its terminal effect.
Next to snowmobiling and walleye fishing, Federal is one of Minnesota’s greatest institutions. Based in Anoka (“The Halloween Capital of the World”), they draw strong and straight-walled brass casings that cycle efficiently, resist cracking under intense pressure, and seat their bullets evenly for improved accuracy. Federal’s primers and propellant both ignite cleanly to keep a handgun in better operating condition out in the field.
