This cartridge is loaded with a lead-free FMJ. It has a normal brass jacket, which promotes consistent functionality in any semi-auto that chambers it. But instead of lead, the FMJ’s core is made of zinc. We’re not saying we’d sign up to inhale zinc fumes all day every day. Still, we’d much rather take our chances with zinc over lead.
One matter of note: This ammunition is not frangible. A zinc core is significantly more brittle than a lead one. Even so, Winchester does not advertise this ammo as having “pulverize on impact” terminal performance.
Is a lead-free FMJ not enough? Fine, then how about this: This round is loaded with a lead-free primer, too. And despite all its unconventional lead-free components, Winchester Super Clean still gives you reloadable brass shells while you fire it. Super Clean. Super nice.
