First things first: THIS IS OVERPRESSURE AMMUNITION! It can destroy an older firearm that isn’t designed to contain its higher chamber pressure. It will kick harder, and it will accelerate deterioration of a semi-automatic’s barrel and moving parts. The payoff? MORE POWER! This round’s muzzle energy is high for the 380: 288 ft lbs, which means that it hits about as hard at 5 yards as a 9mm 124 grain load would at 75 yards.
That bullet is the aptly named eXtreme Terminal Performance: a jacketed hollow point by Hornady that is often favored by competitive target shooters simply because it is so accurate. The XTP’s notched and fully tapered jacket facilitates broader and faster expansion at all impact velocities, and its shielded rim prevents feeding jams quite reliably.
Underwood enhances the XTP by seating it in a smooth-as-silk nickel-plated brass case, and backing it with propellant that emits impressively little light when it ignites. That’s why you can expect this ammo to cycle freely and keep your eyesight adjusted to the night. Made in the country we like best – don’t even ask which one!
