Lehigh Defense of Texas designed the Xtreme Defender to do away with the JHP’s greatest design flaw. This 380 Auto cartridge’s 68 grain bullet is extraordinarily light because it contains no lead. It is monolithic – i.e. made of solid copper – which is why (A) it boasts a high muzzle velocity with relatively little accompanying recoil, and (B) Lehigh Defense was able to CNC machine it with four radial grooves.
The Xtreme Defender’s radial grooves don’t merely give it the appearance of a Phillips head drill bit. When those slots encounter soft tissue, they channel it inward, pressurize it, and then blast it outward at high velocity. The result is a large permanent wound cavity – no terminal expansion required.
Count on this round’s lead-free bullet to reliably exploit hydraulic pressure to your advantage, as well as penetrate to an effective depth for defensive applications. And thanks to Underwood’s premium nickel-plated brass cases and low-flash propellant, you can take genuine peace of mind that your 380 ACP ammo is ready for action.
