Speer's 38 Special +P Gold Dot line of JHP defense ammunition is great for duty use for law enforcement professionals as well as home defense applications.

Speer Gold Dot Ammunition is loaded with bonded core bullets and is designed for critical defense needs.

Bonding the jacket to the core means the elimination of core-jacket separation and superior weight retention making it more effective than traditional hollow-point bullets in the event that the bullet encounters bone or heavy clothing upon entry. Speer's Gold Dot ammunition is a leader in the law enforcement community for its great performance in the FBI test protocols. It performs especially well in the compound glass angle test that bullets must undergo to pass the FBI's rigid screening requirements.

This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable nickel-plated brass cases.

A: Yes sir, this ammunition is designed for safe operation in any 38 Special +P (or 357 Magnum) firearm.

Q: Is this gold dot using the short barrel bullet design?

A: No sir, this cartridge is loaded with Speer's standard Gold Dot projectile. Its 945 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 4" vented barrel.

Q: I noticed this ammo is marked 53720 on the box. Is this the same gold dot bullet as the boxes marked 23720 at the bottom of the box? Both boxes are labeled as 125gr gold dot +P. Just wondering if the hollow points are the same or if there is any difference. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

A: Thanks for reaching out Anthony! 53720 and 23720 are identical with one exception: one is packaged in 50-round boxes, and the other is packaged in 20-round boxes.

A: Hello Robert, No you do not need to be a LEO to purchase the Lawman ammunition by Speer. Keep in mind this is +P so make sure your firearm is rated to withstand those higher pressures. Enjoy!
