The rugged old timer on the box ought to say it all – this is good old-fashioned cowboy ammunition, made in the great state of Montana by HSM. Perfect for cowboy action shooting, casual target shooting, and more than capable of making a cattle rustler wish he hadn’t dropped out of dental assistant school!

This round has a 158 grain lead round nose flat point bullet. As its name suggests, it’s a design that marries round and flat nose profiles, so it at once feeds easily in a lever-action rifle, boasts serviceable accuracy, and has a lot of frontal surface area with which to engage its target on impact. Whether you want to connect with steel or bore a wide, straight hole through flesh, the LRNFP is where it’s at. And this bullet’s pure lead composition will let it mash down during penetration to create a nastier wound channel than its original diameter alone could account for!

This is a low velocity load. Assuming the round has 5.3 grains of powder (we can’t say exactly) and that you’re firing a S&W Model 648, its bullet weight and muzzle velocity dictate that it should generate only 2.78 ft lbs of recoil energy. That’s manageable for even the beginner shooter, and will help an old pro keep his sights trained tight on his target as he’s dumping out a cylinder.

HSM loads this round with a virgin brass case, non-corrosive primer, and modern smokeless propellant that burns up good and clean. We hope you order a box and see how well Montantans know their art!
