A: Thanks for reaching out Philip! We always include the muzzle velocity and energy as reported by the ammunition manufacturer. As you may already know, a longer test barrel produces a relatively higher muzzle velocity. Unfortunately, there is no standard test barrel length that ammo manufacturers are obligated to use for certain cartridges. Norma used a 6" test barrel to record this round's muzzle velocity – a departure from convention for 38 Spl, for which we usually see data recorded with a 4" barrel. In short, you may notice significant deviations from normal muzzle velocity as the result of different manufacturers using unequal test barrel lengths. I cannot speak to whether modern 38 Spl ammunition is loaded to higher pressures, although SAAMI regulations would prohibit any round that exceeds 17,500 psi.

A: Thanks for reaching out Jay! Your Taurus is designed to fire any 38 Special or 38 Special +P ammunition on the market, including this self-defense ammo by Norma. I do regret that Lucky Gunner is no longer able to ship ammunition to California, however, not even to FFL dealers or Licensed Ammunition Vendors in the state.

A: Yes sir, its bullet has a lead core. I regret that we haven't got any 38 Spl with lead-free bullets in stock at the moment, but our inventory does change frequently. I hope you'll check back in again soon!

A: Thanks for reaching out Stephanie! This ammunition is standard pressure, not +P. If 38 Special is overpressure then it will say so right on the packaging, and we'll point it out in its title as well. So long as your Rossi is chambered for 38 Special and in good condition then it should fire this ammo just fine!

A: Thanks for reaching out Michael! I regret that we haven't tested this ammo yet, and also that I can't find any kind of data for it either. I'm afraid the very best I can do for you right now is share Norma's own ballistic data – no penetration stats there, but at the very least you can see what kind of energy this ammo delivers downrange: norma-ammunition.com/en-us/products/dedicated-home-defence/pistol-and-revolver/norma-safeguard/norma-38-special-jhp-safeguard-158-gr---610740050

A: Hello Luwanna! Yes it will! This ammo is loaded to the same (or at least very similar) specs as 38 Special would have been loaded to back when your older revolver was manufactured. Really, so long as you avoid 38 Special +P you should find that any ammo will work well in your revolver.
