This round’s semi-wadcutter hollow point bullet is simple yet effective. The 158 grain solid lead projectile clears a 4” vented barrel at a rate of 830 fps, and therefore retains sufficient kinetic energy for defensive shooting at ranges up to around 50 yards. If the bullet strikes with enough energy, its nose cavity will trigger significant terminal expansion. But even at velocities which are too low to permit expansion, the semi-wadcutter bullet’s flat nose profile and sharp shoulder are both due to gouge a debilitating wound channel on their own.
This round’s SWC happens to be an ideal choice for target practice as well. When that bullet hits a piece of paper, its profile is going to stamp a mighty clean hole right through it. You’ll have zero problems interpreting how tightly you’re landing your shots! And if you’re thoughtful enough to hang onto this ammo’s virgin brass cases once they’re empty, you’ll also have no problem handloading new ammo back at home. Noncorrosive, nonmagnetic, Minnesota-made!
