The 38 Special is a great cartridge. It’s perfect for a snubby DAO, it lets you train more affordably with your 357 Magnum, and you could even chamber it in a Henry Big Boy. Whether you would count on the classic cartridge for self-defense or just enjoy plinking with it, you’ll find that even this case of USA Target Packs by Winchester hasn’t got enough ammo in it.

This cartridge features the M41 ball’s standard 130 grain bullet. It’s a full metal jacket that will keep your bore cleaner and feed more easily from a semi-auto’s magazine. The bullet’s flattened tip perforates a paper target more precisely, and suits it better if you’d load it in a rifle like the aforementioned Big Boy. Would you use an FMJ for self-defense? Not ideally, no -- but you wouldn’t revert to hitting your assailant with a tree branch if it’s all you had, either.

This cartridge’s brass casing is still shiny out of its factory, and its primer and propellant are both reliable and clean burning. Enjoy buying Winchester for its quality, history, and neat drawing of a man riding a horse on the box!
