A: Thanks for reaching out Rudy! I did see the other half of your question. The barrel length, capacity and action of your revolver wouldn't have any bearing on whether or not it's rated for +P. The year it was manufactured does, though. The FBI introduced the 38 Special +P in 1972, so if your revolver was manufactured before then there is no way it can safely fire +P. However, even a police revolver manufactured after 1972 may not necessarily be rated for +P. Even if you could tell me your revolver's age, I wouldn't be able to make a confident ruling. There's just too much at stake for any ambiguity. I'd recommend taking your revolver to a local gunsmith or gun shop and see what they say. Until then, play it safe by only loading standard pressure 38 Spl in your revolver.

A: Absolutely Barry! A 357 Magnum revolver can fire any 38 Special +P ammo on the market. Even an overpressure 38 load is substantially weaker than any 357.
