The 38-40 WCF recently came back from a long period of obsolescence thanks to the the demand of Cowboy Action shooters. This cartridge by Black Hills delivers the performance you need to wield a revolver to victory in sport, but it’s not incapable of taking down a deerif you know how to handle a long gun as well.

This cartridge has been faithfully recreated to emulate its historic performance. It features a classic 180 grain lead round nose projectile that erupts from the muzzle at a velocity of 800. The bullet’s broad nose will either cut a neat hole through paper or connect fully with a steel target in order to knock it over. Still, lead is nice because it can deform -- you could very well use this round to keep raccoons out of your Japanese Zen garden just like the pioneers would have back in the old days.

This round’s modern propellant won’t enshroud you in smoke as you’re emptying out a cylinder, which is nice because being able to see is considered key to accurate shooting. Black Hills, a top tier manufacturer, gave this round the brass casing that a harder to find load needs to stay in play courtesy of a reloading press.
