Go and spend your life learning all the martial arts that you like, but remember: No amount of jeet kune do, krav maga, wing chun kung fu, or vale tudo is going to make you fiercer than a meth head carrying a Saturday night special.

You need ammo like Hornady Critical Defense to truly protect yourself. This 357 Sig round features Hornady’s own 115 grain FTX bullet, which is solely designed for self-defense. It is a highly resilient bullet, with an InterLock ring that fastens its copper alloy jacket to its alloyed lead core so the two stay intact as they penetrate barriers and soft tissue.

As a jacketed hollow point the FTX treats its target to massive cavitation. A pliant column of polymer prevents the nose cavity from clogging with debris that could have ruined its ability to commence reliable expansion. That polymer tip also extends down into a cavity within the FTX’s core – following high velocity impact it smashes inward to spread the bullet apart rapidly!

This round is loaded with low flash propellant. That helps to keep muzzle flash at a minimum, which is extremely valuable if you’re ever accosted in the dark and wish to fire without temporarily blinding yourself. A Critical Defense round’s brass case is plated with sleek, shiny, and corrosion resistant nickel. It accordingly cycles reliably, is easy to see in poor lighting, and resists tarnishing that could have caused a jam or failure to fire.
