We have to make something crystal clear right up front: When we say this 357 Magnum ammo by Buffalo Bore is good for self-defense, we don’t mean it’s good for self-defense in the concrete jungle. In addition to hunting, this ammo is suitable for deterring an attack by a large, toothed and clawed critter!

This round is armed with a 180 grain hard cast lead flat nose gas check bullet. A hard cast bullet does contain lead, but it is made exceptionally harder with the addition of metals such as antimony, tin and silver. A hard cast bullet will not exhibit any significant degree of deformation as it meets resistance from soft tissue. This enables the hard cast bullet to penetrate extremely deeply. That’s an advantage when you’re shooting an animal with very thick hide and dense muscle tissues, but this non-expanding bullet is nearly certain to pass through a human-size threat and potentially jeopardize innocent bystanders.

The hard cast LFN’s broad nose profile does enable it gouge a more damaging wound channel through soft tissue than a round nose bullet could manage. Its gas check helps the bullet to reduce lead fouling, which in turn promotes the conservation of accuracy.

This is a powerful load, capable of clearing an S&W Model 27’s 5” barrel at a velocity of 1,400 fps. It is safe to fire in any steel frame revolver, as well as any lever-action rifle. Buffalo Bore does not recommend this ammo for lightweight alloy revolvers, as recoil energy may force bullets in the cylinder to jump out of their crimping. Brass-cased, Boxer-primed, non-corrosive and American-made!
