This cartridge is rigged out with Hornady’s 130 grain MonoFlex. It’s a solid copper hollow point with black elastomer filling its nose cavity. When the supple elastomer compresses during penetration, it forces rapid outward expansion that deals significant damage to surrounding soft tissues. (Its elastomer-filled nose cavity also makes the MonoFlex safe as can be for lever actions.)
The MonoFlex’s all-copper composition makes it unusually rugged. The bullet loses no more than 5% of its weight during penetration as the result, which all but guarantees a deep and deadly wound channel. A monolithic bullet also eliminates ugly lead fouling!
Hornady is a great Nebraskan ammo manufacturer, which loads the premium brass, primer and powder a reliable cartridge can’t do without. This round’s 1,250 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 8” barrel.
