This round has a 125 grain jacketed hollow point – not the weight we’d choose for deer hunting, but a popular choice for self-defense and taming coyotes. The XTP’s lead core is swaged for superior uniformity, and its jacket concentricity only further enhances the bullet’s rotational stability. And once the XTP is done being accurate, it sets straight to work promoting effective terminal expansion. Its jacket’s rim is thin, and serrated into symmetrical sections. These features weaken the jacket so it can split apart under relatively low pressure.
The XTP’s jacket does even more to ensure smooth operation. It fully protects the nose cavity’s rim, which helps to prevent feeding issues in lever guns and impact damage that could have impaired subsequent expansion. This round’s reloadable brass case is straight as a whistle, and its propellant burns clean as an arrow. Wait … no, it’s the other way around.
