This round’s 255 grain bullet is loaded to deliver a 1,060 fps muzzle velocity. That’s significantly less than the speed of sound, so even a rifle without a suppressor is going to issue a substantially softer report while firing it. You’ll benefit from less felt recoil too.
This round’s bullet is an open tip. New shooters often mistake an open tip for a hollow point, which is fair enough since both bullets have openings in their tips. Instead of terminal expansion, however, the open tip’s design means Winchester was able to let its lead core harden in place inside of its jacket, making its weight extremely evenly distributed for exceptional balance in flight. Better yet, the open tip’s jacketed base prevents lead from evaporating during ignition and subsequently fouling the barrel and suppressor!
This cartridge of Winchester’s own invention features a high quality brass case, which you can reload however you please once it’s emptied out. Topped off with clean burning propellant and a non-corrosive primer, and you’ve got a great stealthy buddy to enjoy the next time you go to the range.
