Most Americans don’t know where their food comes from. You, however, do. It comes from the deer (and possibly hogs, and elk) that you shoot with your 308 Win rifle.

“Hey,” you’re thinking to yourself. “This product description gets me. It makes me intrigued about Fiocchi Hyperformance 308 ammunition.”

Plot twist. The best part of this cartridge isn’t made by Fiocchi at all. It’s the Hornady Super Shock Tip! That’s a low-drag polymer tipped boat tail bullet, with a cannelure and InterLock ring that work together toward deeper penetration. True to its name, the SST makes a very large wound channel very quickly..

A 180 grain SST is a beefy SST: definitely preferable for long-distance shooting (goat hunters, we’re looking at you), as well as taking larger and meatier examples of North American game (pro hunter challenge: go moose hunting in Florida). Fiocchi assigns the 180gr SST a 0.480. That means you’ll get this kind of trajectory out of a 24” barrel:
0 yd: -1.5”
100 yd: 2.3”
200 yd: 0.0”
300 yd: -9.4”
400 yd: -27.1”
500: -54.4
