This cartridge is outfitted with the InterLock. It’s a soft point designed to deliver optimal terminal ballistics for anchoring whitetail, hog, and whatever else you’d hunt with a 308. The InterLock’s soft lead core is exposed at the tip, where it is also surrounded by a thin jacket rim. The tapered jacket gives way evenly during penetration to guide fast and uniform expansion.
The InterLock’s name is a nod to its two features that internally lock its core and jacket together. The rear half of the bullet is sturdily constructed, which assures the depth of penetration you’ll need to reach a buck’s ticker.
Fire the 165 grain InterLock out of a 24” barrel and you’ll get a 2,700 fps muzzle velocity, 0.435 G1 ballistic coefficient. The streamlined bullet is going to retain over 1,000 ft lbs of energy until approximately 575 yards. All you’ve got to do is aim.
Brass-cased, Boxer-primed and reloadable, of course. That’s just the way Hornady does it.
