The CX’s monolithic copper-alloy body features a couple of grooves around its shank. These minimize bearing surface to reduce barrel fouling, and also complement the bullet’s ballistically efficient boat tail and Heat Shield tip (the latter of which remains undeformed while it is subjected to intense aerodynamic heating). The unjacketed bullet delivers pretty impressive accuracy, so you can but a deadly little bolt of copper precisely where you mean to.
The CX doesn’t really get started until impact. That’s when its rugged copper body springs into action, retaining at least 95% of the CX’s total weight as the bullet plunges deeply into its prey. The Heat Shield rests within a hollow point nose cavity, and rams deep down inside of it to trigger devastating terminal expansion.
Black Hills reserves their Gold label for their highest quality craftsmanship. If you were only looking for match grade 308 Win range ammo, then you’d still love these rounds from South Dakota!
