A: Thanks for reaching out James! That's a contentious topic in the ammo world – we take muzzle velocity data from the ammo manufacturers themselves, although they rarely include the length of the barrel they used to record their data. I just wrote a note to Wolf asking for that info, and will see if they get back to me. Now me, personally, I agree with the consensus that a 1:12 barrel twist rate is optimal for 110 to 190 grain bullets with a 308, and I foresee zero problems arising out of your barrel length. I'd say you're good to go!

A: Thanks for reaching out Rob! A 7.62x51 rifle can fire 308 Win ammo, but I want you to know a couple things before you order.
First, while the two cartridges share virtually identical dimensions, the commercial 308 Win is loaded a little "hotter" than the military's 7.62x51. The increase in pressure is very, very little, and even SAAMI says you can safely fire 308 Win in a 7.62x51. Just want you to know that.
Second, Wolf is what we call "accessibly priced" ammunition. It's low-priced because it has steel cases (nonreloadable, more fouling of the action) and bimetal jacket bullets (magnetic, banned at some indoor ranges). Steel cased ammo works very well in many guns, but it may present certain issues in others. Without knowing what kind of rifle you have I can't really say. I'd encourage you to do a quick search on the internet and see what other shooters are saying about firing Wolf ammo in your rifle.
Personally, Wolf is the only ammo I ever run through my AK-47, and I've never had a problem with it. I love the stuff. I keep a case of Wolf in my bedroom closet!

A: Hi Eric! It's my understanding that steel cased ammo is actually great for a PTR-91 because the casing expands less. There was a forum post on calguns.net a few years ago that addressed your very question, and the consenus was that steel cases are better for a PTR-91 since they expand less to let the gasses go around the case and push it out easier.
Here's a link to that conversation: calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=968775

A: Hello Dusty,
This Wolf ammunition is loaded with a lead core, bi-metal jacket projectile. Due to the steel content in the jacket, this ammunition will not pass any type of magnet test.
