The 300 Winchester Short Magnum. A great choice for deer and elk hunting, made only better when its bullet is Federal’s Trophy Copper.

This 300 WSM round’s 180 grain bullet has no core or jacket. The tough, monolithic Trophy Copper remains up to 99 percent intact as it pierces clean through to its target’s vital organs. But a solid copper bullet doesn’t just assure deep penetration. Its lack of lead also promotes a cleaner barrel and uncontaminated meat.

The Trophy Copper has to be a little longer to make up for copper’s lower density than lead. It compensates for this with pressure relieving grooved machined into its shank, which serve to mitigate barrel fouling. The Trophy Copper’s ballistically efficient polymer tip and boat tail complement its sleek overall profile to enhance the bullet’s ballistic coefficient to 0.523. That’ll treat you to a flat, easy to aim trajectory and a Herculean 1,803 ft lbs of energy to transfer at 500 yards.

The Trophy Copper’s polymer tip is not solely for accuracy. It rests atop a nose cavity, into which it rams on impact to deliver devastating terminal expansion over a wide range of velocities.

Federal helps their Trophy Copper round to weather the elements and feed and extract more smoothly with the addition of nickel plating to its brass case. This non-corrosive, nonmagnetic and nontoxic ammo is made Minnesota.
