The 300 WSM is two important things: one of the great American deer and elk cartridges, and incompatible with 300 Win Mag rifles (we get asked about that a lot). Woodsmen unite! Browning’s BXS line of ammunition now has a stellar 300 WSM offering for big game and deer.

This round’s 180 grain bullet is Browning’s own Terminal Tip projectile. With the exception of the tip that gives it its name, the Terminal Tip is made completely out of copper. It’s legal for hunting in places with lead bans, and it won’t put any toxic stuff into the animal you’ve been fixing on eating all year.

The monolithic Terminal Tip is also super resilient. It will stay intact as it plows through dense muscle and bone, thus retaining the momentum that deep penetration can’t happen without. Its tip doubles down on those terminal ballistics by triggering huge expansion.

The Terminal Tip is also optimized for accuracy. The balanced and streamlined bullet achieves a 0.485 G1 ballistic coefficient, so it hugs a straight flight path and still knocks an elk’s socks off with over 1,750 ft lbs of energy at 500 yards.

Deer don’t care too much about the rain, but you will if it corrodes your ammo. That’s why Browning’s case is plated with corrosion resistant nickel, which also conveniently smooths out feeding and extraction. A lead-free bullet combined with Browning’s low residue explosive components does a great job to keep a rifle’s bore clean!
