The Controlled Chaos is CNC machined from solid bar stock. A monolithic bullet like this generally offers better rotational stability in flight than any jacketed bullet simply because its weight is so uniformly distributed. It’s also lead-free for compliance with certain jurisdictions’ ammo laws, as well as the prevention of barrel fouling and meat contamination.
But none of those features earn a bullet a name as cool as “Controlled Chaos” – it gets that for its terminal performance. When the Controlled Chaos enters its target at a velocity as low as 1,450 fps, it penetrates to some depth until hydraulic pressure forces it to splinter apart. This releases tremendous energy as well as multiple shards of solid metal, creating a huge wound cavity followed by several distinct wound channels. Any vital organ which overlaps with this area of effect is toast.
This round’s Ducta Bright 7a process nickel-plated case enhances functionality in a semi-auto by smoothing out feeding and extraction. It also holds out against pernicious corrosion and resists cracking under extreme heat. Like all other Underwood ammo, this 300 Blackout round’s propellant is treated to emit reduced muzzle flash, making it ideal for hunting or personal protection during dusk or nighttime.
