Your 300 AAC Blackout rifle may be more useful than you think. In addition to being one of the world’s greatest range toys – and indisputably effective for home defense – that piece of hardware can also be an exceptional varmint slapper. It just needs the right kind of ammo to do that job best!

This ammo is produced by Ammo Inc. of Scottsdale, AZ, which loads premium brass cases, Boxer primers and Hyperclean Technology enhanced propellant. But what really makes this round special is Hornady’s contribution to it: the V-MAX. It is an incredibly accurate bullet thanks to its flat base, sleek polymer tip, concentric jacket and profile that promotes greater rotational stability.

The instant the V-MAX connects with its target, its polymer tip pushes inward. The tip’s long shaft soon collides with the base of the swaged lead core’s precision-formed cavity, which is when massive terminal expansion and fragmentation start to take place.

This round’s 2,400 fps muzzle velocity will create the cracking supersonic report that makes a suppressor less effective, and it’s 110 grain bullet makes it less accurate at longer distances than a 200 or 220 grain load. But within its effective range, it can make any varmint deader than the DMV on Christmas.
