This cartridge features its Nebraskan creator’s 100 grain Flex Tip eXpanding projectile. It is a jacketed hollow point, with a jacket that fully encompasses the rim of its nose cavity. It serves two purposes: prevent deformation during feeding to reduce the risk of a jam, and prevent damage upon contact with the target to promote more reliable terminal expansion. The FTX’s most distinguishable feature is the polymer plug in its nose cavity. This keeps the nose cavity free and clear of debris, thus enabling it to pass through barriers without losing its ability to produce injurious terminal expansion.
Bright muzzle flash will make your eyes lose their acclimation to a dark environment. If you intend to fire more than one accurate shot when you are accosted in the dark, then you will truly appreciate a Critical Defense round’s low-flash propellant. You will also appreciate this ammo’s nickel-plated brass cases, which are more visible in a dark chamber, more resistant to corrosion, and more reliable in a semi-auto thanks to their ability to reduce friction during feeding and extraction.
