A: PPU's 170 grain 30-30 Win load has a 2,182 fps muzzle velocity and 1,797 ft lbs muzzle energy. Its ballistic coefficient is 0.254.
PPU's 150 grain 30-30 Win load has a 2,379 fps muzzle velocity and 1,885 ft lbs muzzle energy. Its ballistic coefficient is 0.229.
Basically, the heavier load delivers better accuracy farther downrange owing to its superior momentum and resistance to wind drift. It also has a higher sectional density, the property that dictates how well it penetrates a soft medium. The lighter load will deliver superior energy to its target up until 194 yards, at which point the heavier load surpasses it. There are many other factors governing whether you should favor a heavier or lighter bullet, but as a rule heavier bullets are considered more accurate downrange.

A: Hi Buster. That Prvi is a great round and at a price that will work for target or range. If you are hunting anything larger than thin skinned, small game, the 30/30 round just isn't enough to insure humane kill at 450 yards. The ballistic arch at that range will make shooting shorter distances a very tough proposition. If you expect to have deer size game at 450, you need more gun. Have a great day.
