Black Hills Ammunition of South Dakota always brings their A-game. But when they’re making their Gold series ammo, they really pull out all the stops. Choice components. Precision assembly. Rigorous inspection and testing! They’re all reasons why you can trust this 30-06 Springfield ammo to serve you right during your next hunt.

Hornady contributed this round’s 178 grain polymer-tipped bullet. It’s the legendary ELD-X, which showcases Hornady’s proprietary Heat Shield tip. Whereas aerodynamic heating is intense enough to deform other polymer tips, the Heat Shield remains perfectly streamlined the whole time it cuts through the air.

The ELD-X also owes its accuracy to its flawless Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, secant ogive profile, and optimal boat tail geometry. These features all help the bullet strike with more energy at any given distance, at which instant the Heat Shield triggers massive expansion.

Within 400 yards, you can trust the bullet’s InterLock ring to keep its core and jacket rooted together – no less than 50% weight retention. At farther distances, the ELD-X should part with no more than 15% of its weight as it excavates a wide and deadly wound column.
