Don’t fire modern commercial 30-06 Springfield ammunition in your M1 Garand! Its higher chamber pressure won’t just risk damage to the priceless antique’s operating rod. The spirit of John Garand himself might just appear to give you a stern, disapproving look that will cut straight to the marrow of your soul!

If you’re fortunate enough to own a true American treasure, fire Winchester’s M1 Garand series ammunition instead. This 30-06 round is loaded in strict accordance with M2 ball specifications: 150 grain full metal jacket, 2,740 fps muzzle velocity. It won’t bend your M1 Garand’s rod, and its 0.427 G1 ballistic coefficient will still treat you to a serviceably level trajectory – about -4.4” drop at 200 yards after passing a 100-yard goose egg.

Don’t have an M1 Garand? You can still safely fire this lower-pressure 30-06 in a modern rifle. That’s great if you want a little lighter recoil while you’re training or showing a younger shooter the ropes. Winchester’s noncorrosive Boxer-primed reloadable brass cases allow handloaders to make any kind of 30-06 ammo they want. Why, they can even make M2 ball!
