Hunting deer or elk with the 280 Ackley Improved has never been better! Federal pairs this cartridge with Berger’s 168 grain Hybrid Hunter bullet to give you match accuracy and instant knockdown terminal performance while you’re out giving chase to hoofed things.

This round’s bullet combines the strengths of tangent ogive and secant ogive geometries while carrying over none of their weaknesses. That means it boasts an impressive 0.566 G1 ballistic coefficient yet is relatively insensitive to seating depth in a rifle’s chamber. The boat tail bullet thus offers a flat trajectory, great resistance to wind deflection, and the ability to punch over 1,500 ft lbs of energy into its target at 500 yards.

The Hybrid Hunter penetrates three to five inches of flesh and bone before dispersing 40 to 90 percent of its mass (depending on impact velocity), enabling it to deliver a tremendous injury throughout the vital area. If a deer or elk can still move after the Hybrid Hunter strikes it, then they won’t for very long.

Federal loads this hunting round to tight specs with their match grade Gold Medal primer, specialized propellant, and a low friction nickel plated case for hassle-free cycling out in the field.
