With its superior power and reach, it’s not hard to let the 28 Nosler win you over after firing a few rounds of it. When you’re hunting with so impressive a rifle, you deserve equally impressive ammunition as well. This 28 Nosler cartridge is from Hornady’s Precision Hunter label, so it has not only got its Nebraskan manufacturer’s top of the line brass casing, but also a uniformly loaded clean burning propellant charge to ensure predictable shot to shot results. It’s this round’s bullet -- a 162 grain ELD-X -- that really steals the show, though.

The ELD-X is a match accurate hunting projectile. Its polymer tip not only benefits its terminal performance, but is further heat resistant so that no amount of air friction can warp it or throw off its perfectly centered symmetry. Hornady also guaranteed this bullet’s accuracy by giving it a ballistically efficient secant ogive profile, boat tail, and their signature AMP jacket, which is concentric even at a microscopic scope.

The ELD-X is an all-distance hunting projectile as well. At high velocity impact, typically under 400 yards, the ELD-X’s InterLock ring and thick shank work hand in hand to retain most of the bullet’s weight. At lower velocities the polymer tip is able to initiate even wider expansion coupled with as much as 90 percent weight retention. You’d be hard-pressed to do much better by your rifle come time for your hunt -- only the deer will be disappointed.
