Weatherby does enlist help from America’s leading bullet manufacturers when they need it, however. This round features Hornady’s 110 grain InterLock. It is a 0.357 ballistic coefficient bullet, capable of latching onto a very flat trajectory and retaining more than 1,650 ft lbs of energy at 300 yards – more than adequate for elk, not to mention whitetail. The soft point bullet spreads out widely within soft tissue courtesy of its tapered jacket’s inner grooves and resilient one-piece core.
The InterLock features both a mid-body cannelure and raised ring which binds its jacket and core together. Together these prevent the bullet from fragmenting apart as it penetrates straight to the vital area in which it can inflict the gravest terminal performance.
Weatherby expertly loads a cartridge of their own design. Hornady’s hunting bullets are seated in premium brass cases (which deserve to be reloaded), with clean-burning propellant and sensitive primers to send them along their merry way.
