It does this because its 90 grain bullet is an ELD-X, the meplat of which is made of heat resistant polymer that will not warp no matter how greatly air friction cooks it. The ELD-X’s ballistic coefficient is upped tremendously by both its boat tail design and the distinctive geometry of its secant ogive profile, and its thoroughly concentric AMP jacket gives it the rotational stability requisite for sustained straight flight.
Of course, a hunting bullet must do more than hit its target -- it must kill it as well. That the ELD-X does in spades, because its InterLock ring binds its jacket and core together that they will retain the great part of their weight for assured deep penetration. At lower velocity impact the ELD-X’s tip initiates wide expansion as well, although it still widens significantly at higher velocity impact. Hornady spared no effort making this round’s other components first-rate, so bagging your trophy this year will be entirely a matter of your own skill.
