This cartridge is loaded with an 80 grain bullet. That’s still in the weight class some people consider acceptable for deer, but the jacketed soft point really isn’t built for taking larger game. That’s because it’s not equipped for deep penetration, as the JSP’s thin jacket wall and soft lead core are both designed to expand and fragment extra rapidly on impact. That’s what kills small game best, so your sights set on coyote and rodents and such and you’ll be hunky dory.
Its lighter bullet does give this round a hotter muzzle velocity of 3,350 fps. The flat base bullet’s 0.259 G1 BC expresses itself as -6.40” drop at 300 yards following a 200-yard zero. Made in America with noncorrosive Boxer primers and virgin brass cases. Get some and go hunt some varmints!
