Hornady’s Outfitter line of ammunition is designed for hunters who track their quarries in the harshest environments. This 243 Win ammo features slick, nickel-plated cases for superior corrosion resistance and smoother feeding, as well as watertight sealed primers and case mouths.

But Hornady’s GMX is the real star of the Outfitter show. This round’s bullet is made of solid copper, which gives it a host of performance-enhancing features. The lead-free bullet can’t pollute the environment or contaminate meat, and thanks to its two pressure-relieving grooves it is remarkably clean-shooting.

The GMX is extremely accurate. Its sharp polymer tip and boat tail both combat in-flight drag, and its weight is very evenly distributed. The 0.243” diameter 120 grain monolithic bullet exits a 24” barrel with a muzzle velocity 3,325 fps, thus achieving a ballistic coefficient of 0.300. In plain speak, that means you get a flat trajectory, plus over 1,000 ft lbs of energy to ensure a clean kill on a whitetail at 300 yards.

The GMX has even more tricks in store following impact. Its polymer tip rams into the GMX’s nose cavity on impact to instigate wide, jarring terminal expansion. And because the copper it is made from is so tough, the GMX retains no less than 95% of its weight as it expands up to 1.5 times in diameter.
