This cartridge is loaded with a heavyweight bullet. At 77 grains its muzzle velocity is comparatively slow, but it pays off in the form of heightened momentum for greater accuracy at long range. (A 1:7 barrel twist is great for a 77 grain bullet.)
The bullet itself is Barnes’ own Match Burner, an open tip match boat tail. Its perfectly form-fitted lead core and concentric copper jacket give the OTM BT stellar in-flight stability, and its aerodynamic profile and long tapered base both decrease the drag which contributes to bullet drop. (An OTM BT is a hollow point in appearance only. The Match Burner does not deliver terminal expansion.)
