Doubletap loads Nosler’s Custom Competition hollow point boat tail to achieve such staggering accuracy. Its tip is extremely narrow, with a miniscule nose cavity that proves the bullet’s lead alloy core is form-fitted for maximum stability. The Custom Competition’s boat tail retains superior velocity at all ranges, and its jacket is engineered to eliminate any significant flaw in concentricity.
This round offers a 2,695 fps muzzle velocity when fired from a 16” barrel, but a 22” barrel boosts that rate into the neighborhood of 2,855 fps. Those are lower numbers because a 77 grain bullet is relatively heavy for a 223 load, although its greater inertia makes it super resistant to wind deflection. Doubletap recommends a faster barrel twist of 1:9, 1:8 or 1:7 to give so beefy a bullet the stability it needs to perform its very best.
This ammo’s components suit its high quality bullet. Precision drawn and cut brass cases and match grade primers promote reliable ballistic performance with every fall of the firing pin. American-made, we might add!
