A: Thanks for reaching out Gary! This round will kill a deer with correct shot placement, and your 5.56 rifle can safely and accurately fire any 223 ammo. If you were shooting over very long distances you'd probably want a 223 Rem or 223 Wylde chamber, but a 5.56x45 chamber works just fine over the ranges you'd hunt deer within. If I may recommend something better for hunting, though, I'd advise Federal Fusion. This round's bonded soft point bullet is a lot tougher, which means it'll conserve more momentum to promote a deeper wound channel: https://www.luckygunner.com/223-rem-62-gr-federal-fusion-msr-20-rounds
