This ammunition’s packaging isn’t its only feature, of course. PMC loads high-quality 223 Rem ammo for range training and target practice, and it works just fine in 5.56 firearms as well.
Each cartridge is topped with a 55 grain full metal jacket boat tail projectile. The bullet’s jacket is made of copper alloy, which is hard enough to prevent deformation during feeding and ignition, cannelured to secure seating within the case mouth, and entirely nonmagnetic. The FMJBT’s boat tail increases its ballistic coefficient, which is simply to say it helps the bullet maintain a flatter trajectory throughout the 223’s effective range.
PMC is responsible for producing the South Korean military’s ammo, and they spend just as much care ensuring their commercial ammo receives reliable components. These include non-corrosive Boxer primers and reloadable virgin brass cases.
