Once fluid (i.e. soft tissue) pressurizes inside the SCHP’s nose cavity, it forces the bullet’s front section to fragment apart. This produces a large energy spike and resultant permanent wound cavity, as well as multiple smaller wound channels as the fragments continue penetrating in different directions. The base of the Controlled Chaos continues penetrating in a straight line, which (A) further increases the chance of hitting a vital, and (B) minimizes exit wound diameter (which preserves fur).
The Controlled Chaos doesn’t expand or fragment upon hitting a hard barrier (e.g. drywall), which makes it especially potent for home defense. The Controlled Chaos is lead-free, and accordingly clean-shooting and compliant for hunting where lead bullets aren’t allowed.
Underwood’s nickel-plated brass cases aren’t just pretty. They’re also smooth and less chemically reactive – the reasons why they cycle reliably and resist tarnishing, respectively. The finishing touch? Low-flash propellant, which conserves the shooter’s night vision should they ever have to let loose in the dark.
