Amazing what Nosler is able to do with a little lead, copper and polymer. This 223 Rem Varmageddon cartridge is loaded with the American manufacturer’s signature flat base tipped bullet – which is enhanced in every way to deliver deadly terminal effects within small game.

This round’s bullet weighs 53 grains. That isn’t a great deal lighter than the standard 55, but it’s still enough weight reduction to achieve a charged up 3,350 fps muzzle velocity. The FBT bullet’s trajectory becomes even flatter as its streamlined polymer tip, concentric alloy jacket, and perfectly flat base all kick into action. You’re looking at a .22 cal bullet with a ballistic coefficient of 0.309 – enough to keep it moving faster than 1,650 fps at a crazy distant range of 600 yards.

It’s easy to hit small game with this round’s FBT. Killing it is the same story. The bullet’s metallic polymer tip rests on the rim of an extremely thin jacket, which it easily and quickly disrupts on impact. The tip also reaches deep into the nose cavity formed within the lead alloy core, so it starts driving rapid outward expansion beginning at the instant following impact.

Nosler’s Varmageddon brass is carefully drawn to ensure correct lengths, neck diameters, chamfering and flash hole alignment. All propellant charges are meticulously weighed before they are matched to sensitive primers. Once polished and inspected all over, this ammo is ready for any kind of varmint hunt you might have all planned out.
