The Barnes Varmint Grenade is a unique bullet design introduced in 2007. The Varmint Grenade is based on a design Barnes put together for the military, repurposed to take out small pest and predator animals. The jacketed bullet’s central cavity contains a copper-tin powdered metal core, allowing it to stay together at high velocities but fragment on impact. The fragmentation will absolutely destroy targets like squirrels or prairie dogs, while the limited penetration allows you to take predators with minimal damage to their valuable skins.
Black Hills has been manufacturing ammunition for over 30 years. They offer a wide range of .223 Rem and cowboy action ammunition. Their ammunition is popular among competitive shooters and is generally considered equivalent to popular handloads.
