This cartridge’s bullet is heavy at 45 grains: more momentum, and higher capacity for deeper penetration because of it. The nickel-plated copper-jacketed lead-core JHP is shaped to promote deeper penetration as well.
The Punch JHP is not engineered for terminal expansion. Instead, it invests all of its energy into penetration and penetration alone. You could use this ammo for hunting if you so pleased. Could be good if you don’t want expansion that could needlessly damage a pelt!
What’s up with that low 1,000 fps muzzle velocity? Is this round … a weakling? No! That’s just its muzzle velocity out of a shorty 2” barrel. Federal also reports this round’s muzzle velocity is 1,800 fps out of a rifle barrel. Loaded with nickel-plated cases that protect against corrosion in the chamber!
