Its 40 grain bullet is loaded to a 1,875 fps muzzle velocity, so it’ll remain supersonic at 125 yards and still pack a 132 ft lbs wallop at that point. (This is true for rifles, not handguns.) And as a jacketed hollow point, this bullet makes great use of its available energy at any velocity by expanding to deliver accentuated damage. The bullet’s sturdy jacket also facilitates feeding as well as penetration through mole hills and other mounds that varmints are known to take cover behind.
