A: Thanks for reaching out Paul! I'm not confident recommending subsonic ammo for your semi-auto. I believe you should select a standard velocity (1,120–1,135 fps) cartridge to promote smoother functionality in an S&W M41. High velocity (1,200–1,310 fps) should work well also. A: This ammo like most rim-fire ammo is waxed. This is is for a couple of reasons, primarily to seal the lead or copper against oxidation. The other reason is to lubricate it as it travels down the barrel.
