Federal's new Field Pack (730) of 38-grain .22 LR rounds is ballistically matched to their Range Pack (729) of 40-grain LRN ammunition. As a result, these small game hunting cartridges and be trusted to mirror the zero and drop of the corresponding practice ammo. This helps shooters save time, money, and effort when striving to put food in the freezer. Federal rolls their own rimfire brass casings at their Minnesota facility and primes them using a non-corrosive, mercury-free mixture which exposes firearms to zero caustic materials.

Each of these .22 Long Rifle rounds is topped with a copper-plated hollowpoint (CPHP) projectile. The hollow cavity up front is designed to begin expanding during entry into a target. During travel, the bullet's nose will flatten out into a nice mushroom which will cause it to tumble, yaw, and slow. In effect, the bullet will penetrate past layers of hide and bone and deliver all of its energy to the vital organs of squirrel or rabbit. This design will drop game with ease while preserving edible meat and eliminating the risk of lethal overpenetration. Federal's copper plating reduces the amount of lead fouling deposited into the gun for long lasting accuracy and reliable function.
