This is sabot slug 20 Gauge ammunition. It is designed for shotguns with rifled barrels. You can safely fire sabot slug ammo in a smoothbore shotgun, but it will be horribly inaccurate.

Here’s some of the best 20 Gauge sabot slug ammo on the market by none other than Barnes of Utah! If you hear the name Barnes and immediately think of monolithic bullets, then this VOR-TX shell isn’t going to disappoint. The 250 grain Expander Tipped slug is made of solid copper, so it’s legal for hunting wherever lead is banned and cannot foul your quarry’s meat with heavy metal.

This slug’s sharp polymer tip and perfectly balanced copper body both promote great accuracy. The projectile’s G1 ballistic coefficient is 0.179 (out of a 26” test barrel), so it’s able to avoid creating drag as it retains enough momentum to strike a 100-yard target with over 1,250 ft lbs of energy.

The monolithic Tipped Expander retains nearly 100% of its weight during penetration, which enables it to plow deeply through tough muscle tissue. And as its tip drives into the slug’s nose cavity, it forces expansion in the form of six long and deadly petals. It’s the perfect blend of ballistic and terminal performance for taking deer and hogs!
