Do not fire this ammo in a 17 HMR or 17 HM2 firearm.

First came the .27 cal nail gun blank, and life was good. Then Winchester necked that blank down to seat a .17 cal projectile, and life has never been better. If you’ve got a powerful urge to hunt varmints and coyotes with your 17 WSM rifle, then we don’t just got some of the best ammo in stock. We also have a whole lot of it!

This cartridge comes to the party with a heavyweight 25 grain projectile – perfect if the air separating you from your target contains lots of wind. The round’s lower 2,600 fps muzzle velocity still conveys a plenty flat trajectory. Set your sights 1.5” high, aim to 100 yards, and prepare to witness a trajectory that pinnacles at just 0.20”.

You’ll be putting around 276 ft lbs of energy into your target at 100 yards with this round. (The “HE” in Varmint HE stands for “High Energy.”) The polymer tipped bullet will punish small game extra hard, as it’s due to unleash swift and disastrous terminal expansion as soon as it breaks hide.
